Overview

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for creating effective strategies and plans for managing all activities and operations of the warehouse department from receipt, storage, retrieval, inventory accuracies and audits through timely shipping of finished goods. They drive full utilization of WMS for all warehouse activities and leverage performance data to assess labor needs. They are the primary liaison with other departments regarding product availability of product and quality of support.

Responsibilities

Receiving:

  • Manages relationships with procurement teams and vendors to ensure receiving appointments are made and delivery windows are continually met; communicates vendor no shows daily to preclude production down time via planning
  • Applies extreme attention to detail related to all aspects of the receiving process (case quantity, case size, pack size, quality, etc.)
  • Drives SOP and WMS compliance and attention to detail on receiving processes for all team members; trains all team members on receiving SOPs and retrains as needed
  • Responsible for accuracy of Netsuite receiving; works with corporate resources to implement all new systems and blocks of WMS, manages cutover from old receiving tools, ensures all team members are properly trained, and drives compliance of receiving within the systems used(e.g. making sure all items received are marked as received in the systems) Uses reports and the WMS metrics to monitor compliance
  • Manages KPIs related to receiving, provides context around weekly results to plant manager, corporate resources,  and procurement teams
  • Ensures all storage spaces meet food safety requirements and product being received meets food safety criteria (expiration dates, recorded temperatures, cleanliness, etc as applicable.)
  • Ensures all product is putaway to correct location based on temperature, grouping, and in accurate FEFO / FIFO to preclude waste; requires supervisors to audit process and coach any team member not performing to expectations
  • Ensures compliance with all SOPs for product put-away and executes process improvement initiatives as needed to refine support to production
  • Oversees accurate record keeping

Warehouse Production Operations :

  • Manages relationships with production team to ensure maximum support and minimal lag time for needed product
  • Ensures team executes all movement of product to/from storage to production / shipping floors via WMS.  Requires supervisors to use tools to coach team members not performing to standard.
  • Serves as liaison between warehouse, production, and procurement team, ensuring issues with product shorts, quality, or waste are reported promptly and efficiently
  • Ensures all product stocked to production / shipping floor are in accordance with First Expire First Out (FEFO) and / or  First In First Out (FIFO) as applicable using WMS
  • Drives SOP and WMS compliance and attention to detail on stocking processes for all team members; trains all team members on line and floor support and retrains as needed
  • Ensures compliance with all procedures for product put back via WMS 
  • Executes process improvement initiatives as needed to refine support to production
  • Manage KPIs related to movement of goods for production support; provides context around weekly results to plant manager, corporate resources,  and operations teams
  • Understands Warehouse impact on core fulfillment performance efficiency metrics. Demonstrates understanding in process improvement plans and priorities. 

Shipping:

  • Liaison with FEDEX, Plant Operations, and Home Chef Logistics Team to coordinate outbound shipment needs and times.  Tracking all through use of Outbound Trailer Scheduler and communicating to these partners by established deadline.  
  • Manages relationships with production team to ensure finished goods make dock out times
  • Ensures execution of accurate loading process to provide needed final check for shipping counts
  • Drives accuracy of loads using pallet shipping sheet and load diagrams effectively; completing all spreadsheet and BOL filing uploads required by SOP.  As WMS is incorporated into outbound activities, will ensure full utilization of system and establish key reporting and metrics
  • Drives SOP compliance, care of handling of product, and attention to detail on shipping processes for all team members; trains all team members and retrains as needed
  • Manage KPIs related to shipping; provides context around weekly results to plant manager, corporate resources,  and operations teams

 

Team Safety:

  • Understand OSHA rules and regulations
  • Puts practices into place that ensure workplace safety for all warehouse members
  • Communicates any safety concerns to appropriate manager for resolution
  • Audits PIT pre-shift inspections if paper checks used  
  • Communicate expectations of adhering to all safety guidelines and hold all team members accountable for compliance
  • Ensures warehouse leadership performs random checks of PPE and licensing of all PIT operators
  • Establishes record keeping for all safety training and certifications
  • Ensures supervisors are completing safety incident and equipment impact reports immediately and accurately
  • Follows up on all safety incidents and impact reports with supervisors to identify root causes and establish preventative measures or enforcement of communicated and expected practices.

 

Team Management:

  • Schedules team according to labor required for each shift
  • Communicates team shortages timely for backfill hiring
  • Reviews team structure in ADP monthly to ensure team members are assigned correctly and equitably to supervisors
  • Set high standards for team performance
  • Reviews and follows up with supervisors for all required observations weekly. Leads the way on completion rate for team
  • Ensure Team Lead training encompasses all aspects of Warehousing to establish baseline for continued growth and provide adequate assistance to supervisors on shift
  • Sets “Customer First” standard for team to follow  
  • Develops team members via training and performance feedback
  • Ensures all time off requests and missing punches are addressed timely and coaching completed for habitual failures to meet established procedures with supervisors and team members
  • Conducts formal performance reviews
  • Ensures there is a PIT Train the Trainer on every shift
  • Manages conflict between team members as necessary

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Follow the facility GMPs and help enforce them throughout the facility
  • Support the efforts of the company to maintain our food safety system (SQF) and quality programs and all departmental blocks of HCOS 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years warehouse experience with minimum of 3 years in supervisory role
  • Experienced with WMS
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

Salary Range: $89,000 - $98,000 + bonus opportunity
